Fundamental Foundations
Presuming Competence
TBOG’s FUNdamental Foundations

This program is a collaboration of TBOG Academy, TBOG ABA Center, Journey Together TS, and Mapp to Success Therapy. Each portion is separate, and requirements will need to be met for all programs. We have come together to best support our student's whole growth and development with a comprehensive learning plan for students with Austim Spectrum and complex comunication needs.
The Academy

The Academy at The Bridge of Georgia is pleased to offer a comprehensive 5-hour instructional day within our specialized language-based classrooms, designed to foster both language and behavioral development. Your child will be assigned to one of these four classrooms based on their developmental progress, with the understanding that placement is driven by their needs. This structured environment aims to provide a supportive space where your child can thrive academically and socially.
Our classrooms are equipped to address the unique needs of students who benefit from augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) supports. Each classroom maintains a 3:1 staff-to-student ratio to ensure personalized attention and effective communication strategies. We employ a range of high-, low-, and mid-tech AAC devices to cater to each child’s specific communication needs. This includes smart speech boards and trial devices to facilitate communication development while awaiting formal AAC evaluations through Speech Therapy.
Understanding that many behavioral challenges stem from a child's need to communicate effectively, our approach is grounded in reducing these barriers. Our goal is to ensure that children are not overwhelmed by demands beyond their capacity. By focusing on a data-driven communication map, we aim to enhance your child's communication skills while positively managing and decreasing challenging behaviors. This structured approach allows us to provide targeted support that aligns with each child’s developmental stage and communication goals.
In addition to individualized instruction, your child’s day will include specials, lunch, and recess, ensuring a well-rounded educational experience. Participation in our Fundamental Foundation involves a collaborative approach, where your goals for your child are integral to our planning. We encourage you, as parents or guardians, to engage in quarterly GAPP goal meetings and family support sessions.. Our team is dedicated to collaborating daily to maximize your child's growth and development. We look forward to partnering with you to support your child’s journey and achieve their communication and behavioral goals.
Imagine
Imagine never being understood. Imagine everyone at the table eating something they wanted except you. Someone else picked for you because you weren't understood. Imagine having an earache but people are just upset with you because you continue to cry. They don't know you are in pain. Imagine not having the means to say,

"I'm afraid."
"I'm hungry."
"Do you want to play?"
"I love you."

There are many individuals whose brains are just as full of thoughts and questions as yours but they don't have the means or training to voice those thoughts. They may sit in silence. They may protest loudly. They may exhibit inappropriate behaviors. Wouldn't you?
Come check out Fundamental Foundations, a program that teaches students with low verbal skills what they need to know to be both heard and understood. This program is giving kids a voice and that's a game-changer!

For learning
For friendships
For your family
For each individual

We would like the opportunity to journey on an exciting path with your family as we teach your child how to communicate, assess what that individual child needs to communicate, and support you in having the tools you need to engage with your child in a meaningful way.
